Our industry is changing, we are brining innovation into the baggage handling industry. We see new technologies such as Individual Carrier Systems (ICS) are gaining in popularity. It is also a trend to see how we are executing and testing our projects as well as this is also an area where we can benefit from new technology platforms.
Baggage Screening and Testing
Melissa Lugo and Ben Koch of AS&M, presented on the benefits of simplifying and organizing data. By simplifying and organizing the data, the acceptance testing of the baggage systems can be done more efficiently. Also, providing granular and structured data allows for more comprehensive testing. We can expect some direction on how to organize data in PGDS V8.0.
Tom Malkie, PGDS Lead and IWG Co-Chair, gave us a summary of the latest TSA PGDS IWG meeting that took place the day before the IABSC meeting. Thomas gave us an overview on the changes in PGDSV8 which we can expect at the end of this year.
Project Case Studies

Bob provided us with an overview on how SFO came to the decision how the BEUMER CrisBag system helped SFO achieve their strategic operational and sustainability goals for the Terminal 1 project.
Chuck Vanzant from Vanderlande Industries gave us an overview on the LAX TIBIT project which has the Vanderlande ICS system. The project uses the ICS system to connect to the concourses and provide and early bag storage. The technology increases capacity and efficiency of the terminal operations. The system was executed in a collaborative approach closely with key stakeholders in LAX.
