As our industry begins recovery from the global health pandemic, IABSC Board of Directors has implemented a task force to focus on a COVID response plan. Our association committees are being utilized to fulfill these efforts. Assigned topics are as follows:
- YP Committee – In our upcoming competition, participants will be encouraged to come up with a plan to create and enhance safety and passenger confidence
- Technology and Innovation Committee – Development of new concepts in support of the industry, by working with our community to respond to the changing operational environment
- Government Relations Committee – investigate means by which to seek funding supporting the airport industry market in implementation of new responses to the global health pandemic
A recent Wall Street Journal article identified a recent survey which found that “85% of travelers said cleanliness at airports and on airplanes would affect their decision to travel – as high a factor as ticket price.” As the traveling public demands changes, our industry must respond. The need for deployment of technology such as contactless passenger identification and check in, streamlined baggage check in, contactless security checkpoints, and baggage disinfection have become ever more clear.
Through our meetings, virtual and in-person, IABSC will continue to update our membership with progress on these topics. Of course, we can utilize your help in bringing forward these ideas. If you are interested and able to participate on any of the above committees, get in contact with us. As a part of this industry, your input is valuable!
